Would it be OK to take 5 mg Ambien and 1 mg Ativan at night while I'm going through the new medication changes? Hopefully I'll get stable.

Yesterday my pdoc prescribed Ativan (lorazepam) to replace the Ambien I've been taking for sleep.
Doctors give trusted answers on uses, effects, side-effects, and cautions: Dr. Bonuel on ambien 1 mg: I recommend not taking ambien (zolpidem) and suboxone.
Dual diagnosis: I recommend not taking ambien ( zolpidem ) and suboxone. Withdrawal and insomnia is part of the process of withdrawal. Read more. Taking another potentially addictive medication is not recommended. I would only advise it's use under the strict oversight of an addiction specialist during the time of use under a medication of Suboxone which enhances it's effects.
I use Ambien about once a week but would like to switch that between Lunesta as well. How much of Lunesta (1mg, 2mg, or 3mg) should I take.
The least you can take and the less often, the better you will be! None would be ideal!

Since Lunesta is simply the s-enatiomer of the racemic Zopiclone, Lunesta is about twice as strong as Zopiclone because they have removed 50% of the molecules that are not active. There is no exact answer because everyone reacts differently because their brain structures have different blends of BZ receptors in different parts of the brain. That being said, most of the research work I’ve seen has equated 10mg of Zolpidem (Ambien) to 7.5mg of Zopiclone. Zopiclone is available outside the US and has been since the late 80’s.
So 2mg of Lunesta would be a good starting point to equal 5mg of Ambien.
why not start with the 1mg, I find lunesta to be a little cleaner than ambien in inducing sleep – take 1mg and see if that will help especially since it seems you only take sleeping pills as needed and not as a daily sleep aid – starting with 1mg will most definiy pay dividends down the road.
Ok, so what does that mean?

How much of Lunesta (1mg, 2mg, or 3mg) should I take if I take 5mg of Ambien as needed? Mosspa? Or ZZzzZZZ?. I am wondering what is the equivalent dosage for say 5mg of Ambien to Lunesta? I use Ambien about once a week but would like to switch that between Lunesta as well.
