I'm on 50 mg of seroquel, and up to 300mg of trazodone.it's up to me to determine.. I switch between Lunesta and Ambien CR for sleep.
i'm taking 50 mg trazodone. my usual pattern when i had disturbed sleep was to wake up at 2 or 3 to have to pee really bad, and then fall back asleep just enough to continue the dream, but feel like i never went back to sleep. i hadn't thought of the lower dose causing the hangover. interesting. i told myself i'd try it for three nigths and see if the grogginess from the trazodone wore off, but maybe i should just try the trazodone alone. i've had pretty bad sleep for awhile now though. and that's what happened last night.

Not necessarily stay asleep. It usually is used to help people fall asleep. Ambien is very quick acting and isn't in your system very long. In my opinion you're not feeling the effects of Ambien in the morning but maybe a side effect such as depression.

I have tried ambien and ativan for sleep and ambien stopped When I switched to Trazadone, I still took half an ambien for the first week.
Hang int here, this sleeplessness sucks, but it does get better.
When I switched to Trazadone, I still took half an ambien for the first week. Then I went up to 100 mg trazadone and weaned off the ambien. I did take valium for a little while when I was taking the ambien, but I'm sure it woudln't hurt to take a little bit while you are re-learning how to sleep. Lay I haven't even needed the trazadone, I'm doing self-hypnosis tapes before I fall asleep and they have been very effective.

I called my pdoc and asked if I should continue and she said yes- to increase Traz to 125 mg and take ativan. 5 or 1 mg if I wake up in the middle of the night or can't fall asleep. Then we went back to ativan for another week and it was only giving me 2 hours. I have tried ambien and ativan for sleep and ambien stopped working. So I did get about 4 hours of sleep. I've had insomnia (can't nap or fall asleep on my own) since mid Nov and have been on zoloft for about 4 weeks (currently on 100 mg for 8 days). Then I was taken up to 3.5 mg ativan for sleep. pdoc said probably I've developed tolerance to ativan so yesterday we decided to try trazadone 100 mg. I woke up feeling pretty groggy but that's expected. Then we tried 1mg klonopin the day I increased zoloft from 75mg to 100 mg and I got no sleep. At first it was helping- giving me 2 hours on bad days and 4-5 broken hours on good days. I then took 1 mg of ativan and probably fell as sleep about half hour after that and didn't wake up until 7 am. I took it last night at 10:30 pm and was still awake at 2:00 am.
My question for mommies with sleep problems is: Did you take Traz with benzo to help with sleep while on AD? Is it normal when we change med for it not to be as effective until a few days later? Thanks so much!
My doc wanted me to switch from Ambien to trazadone so that I won't have the amnesia effects of Ambien, plus the added benefits trazodone.
