Climara (estradiol transdermal system), 0.025 mg per day—each 6.5 cm² system contains 2 mg of estradiol. Climara (estradiol transdermal system), 0.0375 mg per day—each 9.375 cm² system contains 2.85 mg of estradiol.

Estrogen-alone therapy should not be used for the prevention of cardiovascular disease or dementia [see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS, and Clinical Studies ]

In the WHI estrogen plus progestin substudy, there was a statistically non-significant increased risk of CHD events reported in women receiving daily CE (0.625 mg) plus MPA (2.5 mg) compared to women receiving placebo (41 versus 34 per 10,000 women-years).1 An increase in relative risk was demonstrated in year 1, and a trend toward decreasing relative risk was reported in years 2 through 5.

In the WHI estrogen plus progestin substudy, a statistically significant increased risk of stroke was reported in women 50 to 79 years of age receiving daily CE (0.625 mg) plus MPA (2.5 mg) compared to women in the same age group receiving placebo (33 versus 25 per 10,000 women years).

Climara is a skin patch that contains an estrogen called estradiol. Climara skin patches are used to treat certain symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, and vaginal dryness, burning, and irritation. Long-term use may also increase your risk of breast cancer or blood clot.

Pregnancy Category X Not for use in pregnancy.

Not applicable. Apply 1 patch once weekly to lower abdomen or upper buttock (avoid breasts, waistline); rotate application sites. Hypoestrogenism: see full labeling. Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration. Give cyclically (3 weeks on, 1 week off). Other uses: initially one 0.025mg/day patch.

Vulvar or vaginal atrophy. Moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms of menopause. Hypoestrogenism. Postmenopausal osteoporosis prevention.
