The Temperature Ratings Of Electronic Parts Electronics Cooling

6.16.2017 | Jessica MacAdam

These operating temperature ratings generally satisfy the demands of the. the operating ambient temperature and the conditions under which.

These parts are often available only in the “commercial” temperature range. Uprating is defined as a process to assess the capability of a part to meet the functionality and performance requirements of the application in which the part is used outside the manufacturers’ specification range. For example, oil exploration and drilling applications require small, advanced communication electronics to work underground at high temperatures where cooling is not possible. Today, for some applications, it is difficult to procure parts that meet engineering, economic, logistical, and technical integration requirements of product manufacturers, and that are rated for an extended temperature range (typically beyond 0 to 70°C).

The extent to which operating (ambient air) temperature affects die.. and reduced operating life, and the "curves" of speed vs. operating temp.

If you have an application which doesn't particularly care about low temp operating range, you have (at least) two additional options:. I may be wrong, but automotive grade parts are probably screened for both low temp and high temp.

I expect (???) some difference in thermal properties in FPGAs with different speed grades.

UPGRADE YOUR BROWSER.

Tj = Junction temperature (deg C).

Since the manufacturing processing is different for different speed grades of same series of FPGA, I expect (???) some difference in thermal properties in FPGAs with different speed grades.

Theta C-A = package to ambient thermal impedance (deg C per Watt).

We will be operating our product at Maximum Ambient temperature upto 125C for around 2 hours.

Factor in the power consumption of your design, the thermal properties of the device package you select, and your device cooling scheme (if any).

LEESON Motor Temperature Reference

The surface temperature of continuously (and correctly) operating general ambient of 40° C (104° F), plus additional heat (temperature rise ) generated by motor operation.. If it's dirty, use a totally enclosed motor versus an open one.

Unless you have benchmark lab readings of heat runs that show "normal" surface temperatures for that specific model in exact locations on the frame, a motor's skin temperature provides little if any evidence of what is going on inside.

000001 ohm. This test requires an ohm meter capable of measuring very low resistance. A more precise test for detemining winding temperature is the resistance method. For motors up to about 2 hp, the meter should be accurate to 0.1 ohm; from 2 through 20 hp, 0.01 ohm; and for larger motors, 0.001 or better yet to.

It goes a bit further - if the dissipation in the capacitor is small Tcore will not be much different than Tamb.

Finally there are high-frequency capacitors that use a ceramic or mica as the dielectric.
