FALSE. Second… it’s valued but not studied.

Why is that? It seems researchers are ignoring the physical environment in their discovery to figure out why employees are unhappy or how to make a kitchen run more efficiently. But nothing (or I mean very very little) on the way the equipment is laid out in the space, and definiy very little on the ways the employees use the equipment or the space of the kitchen. However, this is not entirely true, the factors of the physical environment that have been studied include ergonomics (a science that deals with designing and arranging things so that people can use them easily and safely), hygiene, injuries and ventilation.

When it comes to spatial layouts, functionality is important. You know, you really won't be able to work properly if you're in a space that's just so.

When it comes to spatial layouts, functionality is important. You know, you really won’t be able to work properly if you’re in a space that’s just so cramped, or so filled up with things that you don’t really need. You have to make sure that you have cleaned up well, and that you’re able to do everything you need to do without panicking, or having to go somewhere else.

Like, when you hear the words Google or Buzzfeed, the logos of these companies come to mind. This way, when people hear the name of your company or of the products and services that you offer, a logo or image of your brand would easily come to mind.

Servicescapes have to be designed as a whole, which means no dimensions of the design can be planned without considering other aspects because everything depends on everything else.

- Facility Decisions: Layouts.

Operations such as IKEA a hail of Swedish furniture stores and Stu Leonard’s Dairy Store in Norwalk Connecticut are designed so the customer after entering the store must go through the entire facility to e it not unlike a maze with a single path through it. Unlike manufacturing firms where the goal in designing a layout is to minimize the cost of moving material between areas one of the goals of a service operation is to minimize the travel time of employees and in some instances customers. At the same time, the service firm is trying to maximize revenues per customer by exposing them to as many opportunities as possible to spend their money. For example, the long lines to get into the shows at Las Vegas casinos wend their way through slot machine areas so customers will play the slots while waiting.
