Triazolam is a benzodiazepine (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peen) similar to Valium. Triazolam affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause sleep problems (insomnia). Triazolam is used to treat insomnia symptoms, such as trouble falling or staying asleep.

Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

The following incidences of abnormalities were observed in patients receiving HALCION and the corresponding placebo group. None of these changes were considered to be of physiological significance. Laboratory analyses were performed on all patients participating in the clinical program for HALCION.

Minor changes in EEG patterns, usually low-voltage fast activity, have been observed in patients during therapy with HALCION and are of no known significance.

Should these occur, use of the drug should be discontinued.
