If I try to fight the Ambien. I find that if I just toddle on off to bed within 1/2 hour of taking Ambien. I don't IM or "drunk" dial too much, or "truth" too much. that's when I get reports the next day that I IM'd some goofy shit to people.
Allan: Apple juice and Darvon is fantastic together! Linda: Have you ever had Librium and tomato juice? Allan: No, I haven't personally, but another neurotic ls me they're unbelievable. Allan: You want a Fresca with a Darvon? Linda: Unless you have apple juice.
It does the trick, and when I wake up I feel raring to go - no sleeping pill hangover is important!. I've been taking Ambien on and off for sleeping problems for a few years.
Yeah Mike you're really enthusiastic about Ambien! If I take it now will I fall asleep while doing the dishes?
I'm just glad I didn't have to try to raise bail money at 4 AM.
I think he's talking about '05. And I really can't believe 50 got laid. I can't believe no one has mentioned good ol' Benadryl.
I realize I abused it a little, doubling the dose. Dangerous shit. I have had Xanax prescriptions before and nothing like that happened. My doctor then gave me Lunesta which worked better. I had all kinds of problems with appetite, nightmares, cramps in my legs so I stopped it. They worked and I think I decided to take a couple of them. I was having trouble sleeping this last summer and my doctor gave me a bunch of samples he had. I just live with my insomnia now. But I have a higher tolerance anyway, or so I thought. I ended up driving my car up the driveway crooked and did some damage underneath to the radiator. Gladly, I don't need either anymore.
It's a problem I have. a pig. sorry, I am pig.
If I call will you bail? LOL Jeff!. Kevin you're making me paranoid.
to be honest with ya Mike I don't remember the last time I swallowed in that manner. I suck, I know.
hmm? A ruffee?. I was also wondering about this Ambien thread in the "relationships and dating" category.
especially for traveling. I mixed the two on a 12 hour flight and, well, woke up there!. Cautionary tale: Do NOT mix with alcohol. LOVE it. you'll get more than the 8 hours you're looking for.
puts the gooooooooooooood in night.
I'll let you know how it feels Kev = ))). swallowing right now.
Jeff "Got 99 Problems and." H. Let's make the class reject do it!. Red Bull and Ambien anyone?!?!? Wah ah ah ah ah!!! I smell an experiment!. says: Hmmmm.
Luckily she didn't press charges. It works well for me, I sleep like a baby - only problem is someone could drop a bomb on my neighborhood and I wouldn't even notice it. In fact, I was tempted to ask for her number. I once tried molesting a flight attendant with my feet after taking half a pill on a long-haul flight. It does have weird effects, though. I like Ambien.
I had a friend who took an Ambien just before bed and woke up the next morning in a jail cell only to learn the police had picked him up behind the neighbor's house ramming a bicycle into the back door. Of course he was drunk at the time.and bi-polar.so maybe he had an adverse reaction.
Ambien makes me wet the bed.
SuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuPER Kev ! My mom bailed me out of jail once : ( I was 19 and I didn't do it.
I was living at my parents at the time and they had to help me the rest of the way up, to the bathroom, where I threw up the nothing I had in my stomach, and crawled into my bed with my mom while my dad called poison control. The cops came (instead of poison control I guess?) and I tried ling them all that it was like "being on mushrooms, the magic kind, except not fun" while my dad tried to reassure the cops that I had never done drugs, to which I asserted "how do you know!" The next day I woke up and felt fine. Went to work waiting tables and worked a double. I took half an ambien once, on a fairly empty stomach. I couldn't make it up the stairs to my bedroom. I hope your ambien experience is better than mine. I could feel it within 5 minutes - totally trippy.
Just take some tylenol pm or stick to a tried and true mild sleeping pill. Try a half miligram of Ativan.or another mild anti anxiety drugs. I have a family member who stupidly mixed ambien with alch and ended up in the hospital. Read the inserts and info on line and you will think twice about Ambien. Bad! We are all just guniea pigs for all these new drugs.
says: Ambien is a benzo and hence potentially habit forming. ________________________________ it said zolpidem (ambien) is only closely related to benzodiazepines, not actually one. neil "Sir Cumference" c.
I had a problem sleeping and I took 1/2 ambien and it worked great. I rarely take any medication so I was careful not to take to much so 1/2 worked fine.
Make sure sure you have some bail money set aside...just in case!
Goodnight Marcella!!! Hope that dude from Vanilla Sky doesn't pop up in your dreams! ;-).
Code malfunction. NEWSFLASH!!! YOU CANT TALK ABOUT PRESCRIPTION DRUGS UNLESS YOURE A DOCTOR cause FDDI says Doctors aren't a part of the whole pharmaceutical conspiracy, nooooooooooo. I am a machine, need input. I trust EVERYTHING my doctor ls me because I can't think for myself. delete delete!.
the air in the room is beginning to look enjoyably fuzzy. Janine- I ate a couple hours ago.
^Listen to Miz Susan.
Will it work? Will it make me loopy?. I haven't had a good night's sleep in a few weeks and I need to reset my biorhythm.
Joy he's a figment of your imagination.
You all should know that by now. That is not a normal reaction, it was an adverse reaction. It happened more than once. Ambien may cause sleepwalking, sleepdialing, sleeptalking, sleepdriving, sleepfighting and anything that you can put in or near your mouth can be habit forming. Just be careful, it's not for everyone. Different people have different reactions. The use of Ambien caused me to do all of those things.
If you are prone to travelling to distant lands then Ambien is just perfect.
Ambien dances with alcohol.
I recommend a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor for FDDI's Yelp Tourettes. biopsychiatry.com/touret….
Mike Z. says: Yes Marcella, from the time you swallow, you'll be asleep in 20 minutes. However, he'll be asleep in less than 3 minutes. I had to think about that one for a minute.
Is it habit forming? I've Google'd it and not getting much real life info on the subject. Just the typical medical jibberish, "you COULD sleepwalk around the block, steal you neighborh's tulips, lick a lamp and never remember a thing".
I feel good in the morning. 3 minutes ago Linda "Benevolence not without limits" M. Usually I have a beer with it for good measure. Usually I have a beer with it for good measure. says: My husband had good luck with Ambien some years ago. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maybe I need some. I feel good in the morning. Here's how I read that: My brain had good luck with Ambien some years ago. I actually do fine with over the counter Unisom when I can't get my husband to STFU. I actually do fine with over the counter Unisom when I can't get my brain to STFU.
My recommendation is the usual: one calm down pill.
Kevin I outta try melatonin too. I think it's homeopathic and you let it melt on your tongue? I gotta do something about this energy blast I get from 3-7am every night.
I'm neither drunk nor bipolar so I've got that goin for me! I just need 8-10 hours of sleep in a row to get back on track.
Is this the point where we try to hypnotize Marcella and make her into our somnambulist slave?
Marcella - Its not supposed to be habit forming. I took an Ambien right before they started dinner service, and the next thing I remember it was like 10 hours later and the flight attendant was pulling my face out of my uneaten dinner tray. And I haven't noticed any problems. The first time I used it was a flight to NZ. But be prepared to be asleep within 20 minutes of taking it.
Mike: really? I was going to reccomend one of the pheno-thiazines.
For occasional use, it can be very effective. If you are really trying to "reset your biorythms" and get a good nights sleep, don't drink alcohol and take Ambien. Sweet dreams. LOVE it. Yes. I also suggest 10mg.
FID why are you so worried about my smoking habits? From the first time you ever harassed me back in '07, you've pulled the "smoker hippy" card.
my friend told me tonight that ambien makes her feel "randy"
Marcella, you're after my heart, my dear, for having put a question about prescription drugs in the "Relationships and Dating" category.
hey neil! remember me? I've only got one pill so I can't do much damage anyway. *cheers to a long and continuous slumber everybody.
I had bad experience with that crap. Plus, don't listen to the ads - it can be addictive. Messed up my waking life: bad hangovers - and it didn't work that well for me for sleep. IMHO there are much better things to use.
Yes, Daniel. my SO says "I'm tired of waking up at 5am to my wife cleaning the house.".
I had only one pill : ) OMG SUN!. that was my fun for the year.
My experience with Ambien is. Also. Many people in Taiwan did end up in a jail for shop-lifting after they took ambien (it's over the counter medicine, we have the same drug regulation like Europe.) I will say Ambien is somehow a "truth" pill. you name it. it makes me send s that ls what I truly feel about everything, people, election, immigration, arts, movies, etc. it might cause depression.
from the time I swallow I only have 20 minutes? daayyum! for real?
50 you blocked me? When did you do that u little fukr. WE ARE IN A FIGHT.
Or do you want me to skip the bail and bust you out? (As for me, I don't do well with depressants. Uh oh.). Sure, Marcella. It seems that EVERYTHING that enters my system is metabolized as though it was a stimulant.
I chicken shit out of taking any of the pills you guys are talking about. I'm convinced if it works, I'll like it too much and I'll turn into an addict. And so I will be a night lurker forever. mwahahahahAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHaaaaaaa.
I think a six pack and a few Vicodin is a rollicking good time. Ok.
Hmmmm. Red Bull and Ambien anyone?!?!? Wah ah ah ah ah!!!.
i used rohypnol (illegally) as a teenager to get a good nights sleep. to date, it is the ONLY thing that has ever helped me get consistant sleep. so now my mom gives me her klonopin (clonazepam) or a girl i work with gives me restoril (temazepam). they prescribe it for sleep in mexico. says: ambien is better than restoril.that's all i can say. mary "mary, why 'ya buggin'" a. if i could find it in the states, i still would. _____________________________ restoril. sister to rohypnol and klonopin. neither make me fall asleep, but when i DO finally fall asleep, i sleep longer and i tend to have less nightmares than i do on a normal basis (without drugs).
On and unrelated note, one of my best friends was using this stuff called "Valerian Root" and having bad dreams that were nothing short of *UNREAL*. Bluntly put, they're *never* a day-to-day long term solution. Mike "UranusDeMilo" W. My ex took it and he had the problem that every man hates. My advice? Eliminate the cause of your sleeplessness before you start taking tranks. I can't l you how many times I've woke up at 5 A.M. Keep tranks as a last resort option. Give my drug-free suggestions a shot. Legal briefs. says: I used to have trouble sleeping.till I *compley* phased caffeine out of my diet. In addition, there's a strong tendancy for people to become somewhat dependent on them. The tax code. He was going to bed late too. what mike said. Try reading some boring material at night. Accounting texts. And i suggested to him to stop taking it because it causing erectile dysfunction and that wasn't flying with him. The sex was better, no more penis problem, and he slept well like a baby without it, since he decided to go to bed when I did. It means eliminating certain sodas from your lunchtime regimen, and watching which mixers you use when (or if) you go out drinking. He cut out caffiene and didn't drink wine or any drinks before bed. While I can't speak to you from a position of personal experience, I can speak to you from the point someone whose observed the long-term effects of similar chemicals. That means no coffee, no decaf, and no tea (that's not herbal). I'm glad you slept okay. Since I was in nursing school, I had a drug info book. So I suggested he go to bed at the same time I did and taper the dose until he didn't need it anymore. with the lights on, the computer running, and one of these horrible books sprawled across my chest. As for tranks? I've never used them. Steer your thoughts towards a neutral state. I think the big turning point with him was the penis problem. In rare instances where I can't doze off, I read.usually exceedingly boring books. Her situation improved drastically once this stuff was out of the picture. Something about them just doesn't seem right. Operating system documentation. And most importantly, *just try* eliminating caffeine from your diet.
It won't put me to sleep but I think I try too hard after I take it. I like advil PM. Ambien does nothing for me.
If you're looking towards alternatives, also look to maybe trying Kava Kava (also does nothing for me) or Valerian Drops. Melatonin also does nothing for me, Marcella. They should be available at most vitamin/health food stores.
I actually do fine with over the counter Unisom when I can't get my brain to STFU. My husband had good luck with Ambien some years ago. I feel good in the morning. Usually I have a beer with it for good measure.
Ambien is great, but take half (5mg) and take it after you brush your teeth, be in bed, read a book. HIDE YOUR KEYS, and geeze folks turn off your computer and hide your phones. I've been on sleep aids on and off for four years. Lunesta is nasty, I had a horrid metal barf mouth smell in the morning.
but not sleepy. I definiy feel good.
I used to work with a guy who SWORE by melatonin.
some chick in chicago was sleepwalking from her epilepsy medication and a homeless guy raped her after having just found out he was...er..positive.
Marcella is gonna have an imprint on her forehead in minutes. keyboard!!!.
There are pills to help you not think. Maybe try living without pills. There are pills to stay awake. There are pills to help you think. There are pills to sleep. There are pills to remember to take your pills.
i will never take it again. no only did it not enhance my sleep, it made my already bad nightmares WORSE. they gave me ambien while i was pregnant.
But less so than valium or such. Which is a good thing. Ambien is a benzo and hence potentially habit forming. I like it, although I don't have occasion to use it anymore.
it's makes me creative. nah, Fid- pot doesn't make me sleepy.
on a flight you can't control yourself Does this really happen? That makes me nervous. So.
I played "blind" Trivial Pursuit with my roommates for the next 5 hours. (Blind because I couldn't open my eyes until the next morning.). Now that I think about it, I think they gave me an ambien when I had lasik. Didn't do a damn thing for me.

don't feel anything. 15 minutes.
I have very detailed graphic nightmares about 60 - 70% of the time. nothing helps me sleep decent. The rest of the time is spent rolling around in restless 'sleep'. i sleep about 5 hours a night on average without caffeine. Even with the 5 hours of sleep, it's never decent.
ambien is better than restoril..that's all i can say.
Marcella: its a fast-on, fast-off drug. Its perfect for a "chemical upgrade" on the 10hr flights to asia. That's one of the reasons people like it, no lingering grogginess. on a plane) while it is active and then go back to bed. You can get weird feelings of amnesia/deja vu if you wake up (e.g.
Yes Marcella, from the time you swallow, you'll be asleep in 20 minutes. However, he'll be asleep in less than 3 minutes.
:). Have sex before bed. That always makes anyone sleepy.
So, when that starts to happen - it's best to stumble on to bed before to do weird stuff. Then the computer screen start to look like the words are melting - trippy. Marcella, did you take Ambien on an empty stomach? I've noticed that it hits a bit quicker on an empty tummy.
D'ya think she's asleep..?
in Relationships & Dating.
I love Ambien. I don't think it ever made me do weird things. other than IM in tongues - then I went sleepy-bye and woke up refreshed. Really, it's the only thing that doesn't make me feel groggy in the morning, like Tylenol PM, Unisom, or other over-the-counter sleep aids.
Fiddy's cool in person.
Ambien is awesome. I should do commercials for these people. It has a very short half-life, meaning its gone from your body in about 4 hours. I use it almost exclusively to sleep on planes for long flights and very very infrequently if I wake up at 2 am and cant get back to sleep. The result: You wake up refreshed and not like you've been drugged. I know a lot of people who feel the same way as I do about it too.
More like I was watching horses run down Oak St., but compley unaware that it wasn't normal for them to be doing so. Seemed as real to me at the time as the cars that I drive by every day. Not like acid or shrooms though. I should note that I had a done a fair bit of cocaine this evening, and so the ambien had a little competition for my consciousness. I took ambien once and starting hallucinating.
yayyyyyyyy ambien! I only got up once in the night- and that was to pee.
the kind from a cow. * drinking milk.5mg ambien
